    • Urban Initiative: ​Gateway Cities Initiative

    ​Went live 12/12 with website providing indicators of Fall River & New Bedford's health, currently provides data on issues from education to safety. Southcoast Urban Indicators updates info previously catalogued on UMass's Center for Policy Analysis website. Sources include MA. Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education, State's Dept. of Labor and FBI Uniform Crime Reports. Dawicki said add'l categories will include topics such as manufacturing sector, transportation and housing as well as a recently completed phone survey of Fall River and New Bedford residents addressing issues related to civic vitality.

     

    • Sustainability and Efficiency Report Card

    ​A report fashioned by the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and authored by a group of UMass Dartmouth MBA students, is the first conducted by a municipality in the country, according to Adam Sulkowski, a UMass Dartmouth professor. GRI standards are used by companies and organizations around the world, including 250 of the largest companies internationally. Herald News 12/8/12.
